Travel Consultation with a Physician

Travel With Peace of Mind

Are you travelling soon? Don't spoil your trip. The University Health Centre offers convenient options for individuals looking to prevent illness when far from home. We also offer Yellow Fever vaccinations.

We provide travel consultations for any travellers seeking a physician. Individuals that are pregnant, children 5 years and younger, and travellers that have concerns about their medical history, in particular, should be seeing a physician for their travel consult.

It is always recommended that travellers research health advisories for their intended destination.

What does a travel consult involve?

After assessing your medical history and destination(s), one of our physicians will provide a prescription for any necessary immunizations, comprehensive health advice, and up-to-date travel information.

Fees

Travel consultation fees range from $55 to $80 depending on the destination. This does not include the cost of prescriptions or vaccinations that you may need.

Come prepared

Travel consultations are offered on a walk-in basis or by appointment at both the University Health Centre or the Pharmacy. Please bring in your immunization records (childhood and others) and as detailed an itinerary as possible. Immunizations and follow-up visits take time, so be sure to complete your consultation well in advance of your trip. Travel consultations and immunizations are not covered by your provincial health care plan; fee will be applied.

Prescription refills

While you're in SUB, let a pharmacist in the University Health Centre Pharmacy refill your prescriptions so you don't run out during your trip. The Pharmacy can be found in the Students' Union Building beside the University of Alberta Bookstore.
