Have you met David, the Public Services Librarian from the Rutherford Library? Spend the next 2 minutes getting to know him a little better.
Where is your favorite place on campus?
The HUB — Rutherford Library nexus because that’s where I consistently run into all sorts of fascinating people willing to share their intriguing ideas and current pursuits.
Tablet or paper?
Laptop.
Name one thing you’ve brought to work from home.
My hockey gear.
What is the one thing you can’t live without?
Interesting conversations.
If you won airfare to anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Japan because even after being there scores of times, it’s still an exciting mystery.
You can invite anyone — alive or dead, real or fictional — to dinner. Who would it be?
[Silence] I cannot answer this question…… Lao Tzu, author of The Tao Te Ching.
If you could switch jobs with someone else on campus for a week, what would you do?
I would be the chair of the Board of Governors to get more insight into how this very complicated place comes together and works so well.
What does “uplifting the whole people” mean to you?
It means uplifting everybody, not just scholars. Also uplifting everything about each person, social, physical, academic, musical taste, etc. I actually use the quote on the first slide of my main PowerPoint presentation.
If you could solve any problem in the world, what would it be?
Snobbery.
What 3 words best describe your U of A experience?
