The University of Alberta banner is flying at half-mast in remembrance of Rebecca Kassian, Administrative Assistant in the Learning Services Technology Training Centre.

On November 11, 2017, our hearts were broken as our beloved Becky passed away suddenly at the age of 25 years.

Becky was born in Edmonton on February 18, 1992 to Alan and Carol Kassian, joining her older sister Sarah on a farm near Thorhild. Becky spent most of her short life growing up in the Thorhild area, attending school and participating in many community activities, including 4-H, and Ukrainian Dance. After graduating in 2010, Becky moved to Edmonton and went on to attain her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree at NAIT in 2015. Becky worked at the U of A in the Technology Training Centre until her passing. During her time in Edmonton, Becky danced with the Vohon Ukrainian Dance Ensemble and taught at the Edmonton School of Ukrainian Dance.

Along with her parents and sister, Becky is survived by her grandparents Joe and Olga Kassian and Stan Kaminski and his friend Alice Graham, as well as aunts Carol (Randy) Williams, Val (Terry) Cooper; uncle Terry Kaminski; and the Williams, Radke/Cooper and Kaminski cousins - Rob (Sasha), Claire (Jeff), Beth (Trevor), Chris (Chrystal), Dennis (Karrah), Nathan, Tim (Leah), Nikki (James), Maxwell, Hanna, Nora and Cole and young second cousins Reid, Brooks, Scarlett, Castin, Norah, Thaeris, Kendall, Owen, and Brooklynn, as well as a large extended family and circle of friends.

Special thanks to the UAH Emergency team that worked so hard on Becky's behalf in her last moments.

In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted to STARS or the Vohon Ukrainian Dance Society c/o 10004-105 Street, Westlock, AB T7P 1V2.
