Have you met Josh, eClass Specialist at the Centre for Teaching and Learning? Spend the next few minutes getting to know him a little better.
What is your first U of A memory?
Does the Jubilee count? I went to a Fred Penner concert at the Jubilee, it was great. There was a big meet-and-greet afterwards… I never got his autograph because I was balling, but I was only four at the time.
What is your favourite distraction?
Probably Reddit - I've been going on the space and U.S. politics subreddits a lot.
What is a weird pet peeve you have?
People who talk during movies. It drives me nuts. That, and people being rude to service staff.
What would you tell your 18-year-old self if you could?
Take more risks. You have time to make up for them. Think you want to go into a specific field? Just go for it - there's time to try other things if it doesn't work out.
What is the most boring thing about you?
The countless hours I spend on Reddit.
If you were enrolling in one course/program/degree RIGHT NOW, what would it be?
I think it would be fun to do something in theatre or fine arts. I walk through there every day, and I hear people practicing and rehearsing - it seems like a lot of fun.
What is your go-to snack on campus?
It was Fillistix, but they've moved farther away from my office… so now it's the Beyond Meat burger at A&W. Shout-out to the vegetarians.
If you could see any live performance tomorrow, what would it be?
Jeff Buckley. I've watched a lot of his live performances online, and he's got such a good voice.
You have a friend visiting Edmonton for the first time - where do you take them?
I think Whyte Ave, just because you can spend a whole day there. Though I wish the Chapters was still around.
What is something your coworkers don't know about you?
I've gotten into reality TV lately. I got into the Bachelor for a solid year and half, and now I'm watching Survivor. This season has been great - a lot of social issues have been brought to the forefront. It's actually an interesting social experiment in my opinion, and not just trash television.
