Have you met Tanya, associate vice president of Human Resources, Safety and Environment? Spend a few minutes getting to know her a little better.

What is your first U of A memory?

During my interview, Rob Munro discussed why he works at the university and its broader impact on the world. He was passionate about its purpose and it was key to me joining.

What is something your coworkers do not know about you?

When I was young, I brought my dad’s horse into the living room.

What is your favorite distraction?

A forest hike that ends with an outdoor fire and a great mystery book.

If you were enrolling in one course, program or degree right now, what would it be?

Applied AI for Human Resources.

What is a weird pet peeve you have?

When someone says “No offense” after saying something insulting.

You can invite anyone — alive or dead, real or fictional — to dinner. Who would it be?

Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and I would ask her about her thoughts on courage.

If you could see any live performance tomorrow, what would it be?

I love humour, so Jeff Dunham.

What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?

Travel, travel, travel.

What is one thing you cannot live without?

Having time and space outdoors. It’s how I find balance and peace — even if it’s sitting on a deck for a few minutes a day.
