We are pleased to announce the appointment of Norma Rodenburg as vice-provost and university registrar effective Nov. 1, 2024.
Norma Rodenburg has more than 23 years of experience in a diverse range of student affairs positions at the University of Alberta. Her career began with the University of Alberta Students’ Union where she oversaw the orientation program and the Students’ Union suite of student services. In 2010, she moved into the Office of the Dean of Students, where she held the position of student affairs officer. In 2015, Norma moved into the Office of the Registrar (RO) as the assistant registrar, Student Connect. Since then, she has held multiple leadership roles within the RO. She holds a bachelor of science in kinesiology from the University of Alberta and a master of arts in leadership from Royal Roads University.
Norma has served as the acting vice-provost and University Registrar since August 2022. During this time, she has led many initiatives to improve the student experience. Under Norma's leadership, the RO continues to advance the mission of the University of Alberta as a student-centred and trusted partner. This includes initiatives such as launching the Student Service Portal and the exploration credits program, expanding free application days for Indigenous applicants and implementing improvements to student financial support programming. With the support of the RO and campus community, Norma played a key role in the university’s swift response in supporting current and prospective students impacted by natural disasters and geopolitical conflicts, as well as applicants impacted by ongoing reforms of Canada’s International Student Program.
Please join us in congratulating Norma on her appointment.
