His research has had a profound and lasting impact on the field and patient care.

A proud alumnus of the University of British Columbia, Dr. Lopaschuk completed his BSc in Pharmacy and his Master's degree before earning a PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology in 1983. Beyond his extraordinary scientific achievements, Dr. Lopaschuk was a passionate educator and mentor. His knowledge, energy and enthusiasm created a rich environment for learners at all stages. Whether in the lab, classroom or through informal conversation, he had a remarkable ability to ignite curiosity and inspire the next generation of researchers and health professionals. Dr. Lopaschuk's commitment to community service was equally admirable. He worked closely with the Heart & Stroke Foundation, collaborated with the Rotary Club to raise awareness about heart health and regularly visited schools to encourage young students to pursue careers in science. His dedication to knowledge and his kindness made him a treasured colleague and friend.
