What is your first U of A memory?

Moving my brother from our hometown of Lethbridge, AB to HUB Mall. I remember we first stopped to look at the campus map on 114th Street and I was shocked at how big North Campus was.

What’s something your co-workers don’t know about you?

I have only ever worked in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, so my co-workers actually know a lot about me. Most probably don’t know that I’m a morning person, and love to have my coffee and journal as the sun rises.

What’s your favourite distraction?

Reading! Give me a book and I’m happy.

If you were enrolling in one course, program or degree right now, what would it be?

Health 100 - Your Future in Health: Pathways and Possibilities. I think this would add to my personal training background. I’ve been considering the bachelor of health sciences as a future degree (since I never did finish my first one… “dean’s vacation” and all).

You can invite anyone — alive or dead, real or fictional — to dinner. Who would it be?

My mom. She passed away four years ago and there is so much I want to share with her.

If you could see any live performance tomorrow, what would it be?

Cirque du Soleil! The acrobatic and aerial arts are so impressive. It always takes my breath away when I see them perform.

What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?

It’s going to be OK. Trust your gut. If you feel like something is off, you are right. Also, life is going to get so good.

What’s one thing you can’t live without?

My husband. He’s my best friend and makes everything better. I also really love coffee. And doughnuts. My son is pretty cool, too.

What three words describe your U of A experience?

Supportive. Expansive. Challenging.

What’s a moment at work you are quietly proud of?

I just started as a peer-to-peer facilitator, and I’ve felt really great about the sessions I’ve done so far. I really enjoy helping people learn.
