Give us the “elevator pitch” for what you do at work.
Library and Museums is connected to so much of what goes on at the university – online and in real life. Part of my job involves staff engagement, and part is to work on projects linked to various strategic priorities. This year I’ve been working on SEAP 2.0 which has been a fantastic opportunity. It reframed my understanding of the student experience and expanded my understanding of the work happening on campus. I really enjoy working with colleagues across campus, and look forward to doing more!
What is your first U of A memory?
Not my first memory, but we should do this again! I came to a sleeping bag drive-in in the Quad where all three Star Wars movies were shown. It was super fun!
If you were enrolling in one course, program or degree right now, what would it be?
Here I am, living this question in real life! I am currently wrapping up an MA in Material Culture in the Department of Human Ecology in the Faculty of ALES, one of my better life choices.
If you could show a visitor a unique spot or experience on campus, what would it be?
I would take a visitor to the Print Study Centre. I love prints, and we have some truly beautiful ones.
What’s a kind gesture a colleague has done for you?
I have a dog-loving colleague who lives a block away and kindly offers me top-notch doggy daycare when I am working on campus. In exchange for belly rubs, my dog Nellie thoroughly cleans their floors of crumbs.
You have to give a presentation about something unrelated to work with zero preparation. What’s it about?
Related to my MA, it would be about quilt documentation projects. The topic brings my love of textiles and my work in libraries and museums together in one unique community-based activity.
If you could see any live performance tomorrow, what would it be?
Prince.
What’s one book, podcast, movie, TV show or playlist you would recommend?
My current podcast of choice is Scamfluencers. I’m fascinated by the bizarre schemes people cook up, and how brazenly they’re able to lie and get away with so much! Although… being a U of A art history undergrad I also recommend Verso – it tells lesser-known tales of art and artists and is excellent!
What’s a hill you’re willing to die on?
Camping is a trip focused on doing housework by making it exponentially more difficult.
Do you have any upcoming projects or initiatives you are looking forward to at work?
This is the first year we’re holding staff awards in Library and Museums. We’re calling them the LAMP awards (Library, Archives, Museums and Press). Actual lamps will be awarded and light puns will be plentiful.
Can you describe your involvement in the Student Experience Action Plan (SEAP) 2.0? How does your work in Libraries connect to the SEAP?
I joined SEAP 2.0 in January 2026 and have supported data collection, data analysis and we’ve now started drafting the plan! I have learned SO MUCH about students and how they learn and do their research. SEAP intersects with my work all the time, from fact-checking my colleagues now and then, to informing how the library approaches teaching and learning. It has been an extremely valuable learning experience, I feel lucky to have been part of it!
