Our Faculty has led the way in developing the other main industry to influence our times – computer technology. During the late 1960s, our Faculty installed an IBM 1800 system shortly followed by networks of mini- and micro-computers, and established one of the first computer engineering programs in Canada, in 1983.
Our Faculty then embarked on a new stage of development. We reinforced our long-standing connections with industry and communities through co-operative and outreach programs. Our innovative Co-op program was founded in 1981. This program now affords our undergraduate students work experience with local and international employers prior to graduation.
