When you are admitted to the Faculty of Engineering, you join a family of students who challenge and support one another to excel in their studies and become engaged in student groups and community involvement.
Our students garner academic, leadership and community service awards. Eleven prestigious CD Howe Memorial Foundation Awards for the top first-year engineering students in Canada have been won by U of A engineering students.
Our faculty has the most active student body on campus, offering numerous opportunities for involvement in student clubs, design projects and leadership. These clubs are considered an integral part of the student experience.
Student groups like Engineers Without Borders, Bridges to Prosperity, and the Engineering Students' Society use their problem-solving skills and engineering knowledge to drive positive social change. The DiscoverE outreach program delivers exciting and educational programming to tens of thousands of youths, many of whom might not otherwise be able to develop their interest in science, technology, and engineering.
Our Faculty is home to about 50 varsity-level student athletes. The Dean’s office contributes financially to the athletic activities of engineering students through the Adopt-an-Athlete program.
