DiscoverE's innovative and inspiring programs have received a number of awards, a selection of which are profiled here.

Bronze Winner in 2019 Edmonton Journal Readers' Choice Awards

The University of Alberta camps (DiscoverE, Green & Gold Sports Camps and Science Camps) was awarded bronze in the category for best summer camp for kids in Edmonton. The winners are decided by the readers and they vote in various categories of best products and services in Edmonton.

2018 Field Law Community Fund

Over the last six years the Program has awarded funds to support over 80 organizations and charitable initiatives throughout Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

2018 NSERC PromoScience

NSERC's PromoScience Program offers financial support for organizations working with young Canadians to promote an understanding of science and engineering (including mathematics and technology).

2017 Laurel Awards - Silver

The Laurel Awards annually recognizes the achievements, innovation, and creativity of non profit groups in Edmonton and area including Drayton Valley.

2016 Metro Community Choice Award for Summer Camps

DiscoverE has won the 2016 Metro Community Choice Award for Summer Camps! We thank everyone who nominated and voted for us.

2015 Google RISE (Roots in Science and Engineering) Award

DiscoverE has won the prestigious Google RISE Award for the third year in a row! We plan to use the prize money to continue expanding our Girls Coding Club initiative.

2014 Google RISE (Roots in Science and Engineering) Award

DiscoverE has won the prestigious Google RISE Awards for the second year running, and plans to use the prize money to grow its Girls Coding Club initiative. Click here for more information about the Google RISE Awards!

2013 Google RISE (Roots in Science and Engineering) Award

DiscoverE was the first Canadian organization to ever win this prestigious award from Google! The Google RISE award is "an initiative to promote and support Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and Computer Science (CS) education initiatives. [Google grants] awards to organizations working with K-12 and university students to provide access and enrichment programs in these field". Click here for more information about the award!

2011 Actua Photo Award

The Actua Photo Award recognizes the member organization that exceptionally captures exciting events and moments which highlight the fun and engaging activities that inspire participants in STEM.

2010 Actua Mentorship Award

The Actua Mentorship Award recognizes the member organization that makes an outstanding contribution to the National Mentorship program by:

  • engaging a diversity of mentors - including CIHR mentors and mentors for All-Girls programs,
  • completing the mentor event log for all mentors, providing rich documentation (photos, stores, quotes,etc...) of mentorship activities, or
  • promoting mentoring as a key component of outreach through exciting activities, training, and media.

2009 ASTech Award | 1997 ASTech Award

In 2009, DiscoverE was recognized with the Alberta Science and Technology (ASTech) Excellence in Science and Technology Public Awareness Award. DiscoverE also received this award in 1997.

2008 Actua Award for Leadership and Innovation

In 2008, DiscoverE won the Actua Award for Leadership and Innovation. This award was created in 1998 as "a way to recognize member organizations that have best exemplified the Actua spirit of innovation over the past year." We were also recognized with this award in 1999.
