Getting Ready for Launch above the Arctic Circle

Engineering students above the Arctic Circle for CaNoRock

Robyn Braun - 22 January 2019

Several students from across the Faculty of Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Professor Michael Lipsett are North of the Arctic circle at Norway's Andoya Space Centre this week.

The group is there for CaNoRock, a collaboration between Canada and Norway to provide undergraduate engineering students a chance to build and launch a rocket.

After a 28 hour long trip, the group arrived at the space centre late Sunday/early Monday, in time to watch the lunar eclipse. The Canadian and Norwegian students have toured the space centre and will be working and learning together until Thursday when they will launch a Mongoose sounding rocket.

Watch this space for tales from their trip once they return!
