Facilities

The Petroleum Thermodynamics Research Group investigates thermophysical properties of hydrocarbon resources including reservoir fluids, heavy oils and bitumen. We perform both experimental and theoretical studies targeted at understanding the properties of these feed stocks at diverse length scales: from nanostructures within phases to bulk behaviours. In our experimental work, we are moving toward development and application of techniques with the goal of quantitative, systematic and simultaneous evaluation of thermophysical properties of heavy oil, bitumen and related fluid samples.
