China-Canada Joint Research Summit hosted by CST

The Centre for Smart Transportation shares ideas and current research with Transport Canada, Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China, and the PR China Research Institute of Highways

Delegations from Transport Canada and the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China visited the CST as part of the China-Canada Joint Research Program Phase III. During their 4-day visit, both delegations met with CST researchers and key industry partners to discuss pressing issues around Smart Transportation. Headed up by Craig Hutton, Director General of the Strategic Policy and Innovation Directorate at Transport Canada, and Fu Guangqiong, Director of Information Division, Department of Science and Technology, key speakers included Dr. Tony Z. Qiu, director of the CST, Dr. Amy Kim, Associate Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Cen Yanqing, Vice President of Research Institute of Highways. The group also toured the latest development of the ACTIVE connected vehicle testbed on the University of Alberta's South Campus.
