Erin Fraser

While finishing her Bachelor of Arts in 2011, Erin worked with the Metro Cinema Society as Theatre Manager and Volunteer Coordinator. There she curated a variety of successful film series, including Graphic Content: A Comic Book Film Series and Reel Family Cinema.

After helping Metro make the transition to the historic Garneau Theatre in 2011, she made her own transition-in 2013-to Alberta Film Classification, the Government of Alberta office responsible for film ratings. Since then she has contributed to the classification of over 700 international films and trailers annually.

Erin's love of movies compels her to not only watch them at work, but also during her free time, where she hosts not one, but two film-related podcasts. Each week on Trash, Art, And The Movies she and Paul Matwychuk ('93 MA, English, '98 LLB) pair together films that explore similar themes while representing the opposite poles of high and low culture. Trash beats art more than you might expect. And on Bollywood Is For Lovers, she joins Matt Bowes ('08 BA, English) as they discuss popular Hindi cinema from their distinctly Western perspective. A member of the Alberta Podcast Network powered by ATB, BIFL is also an international success story-often rising to the top of the iTunes charts in India and Pakistan.
