Violence in Theory and Literature

This course will provide an opportunity to explore theoretical conceptions and literary figurations of violence in order to reflect on the interrelations between power, knowledge, culture, and society. The practical aim of this course is to introduce students to methods of critical analysis and close reading while familiarizing ourselves with the interdisciplinary intellectual histories that inform contemporary issues in literary and cultural studies.
