"Visual South Asian Culture and the 'New Irish' in Ireland"

This talk will engage with the relatively recent presence of South Asian diasporas in Ireland. It will consider specific examples of visual culture in order to address the problematics of Ireland's current multicultural moment and the emergent communities of 'New Irish'.

"Disrupting Poetry: Wilfred Watson's Let's murder Clytemnestra according to the principles of Marshall McLuhan"

This presentation examines the performance of Wilfred Watson's avant-garde play Let's murder Clytemnestra according to the principles of Marshall McLuhan at the 1969 Canadian literature conference "Poet and Critic '69 Poète et Critique" to argue that Watson's play held up a terrifying mirror to the future of literary production in Canada.
