EFS warmly commends Emily Hoven, an Honours student in English graduating this year, whose work is about to reach a broader academic audience. After writing an exceptional Honours Essay last year, her supervisor, assistant professor Sarah Krotz, urged her to submit it to the peer-reviewed scholarly journal Canadian Poetry. Emily's article, "'Answer in Chime': Musical Tonality and Territoriality in D. C. Scott's 'The Height of Land,'" is forthcoming in the next issue. The article, says Krotz, deftly analyzes the distinctive musical prosody of Scott's poem, linking its musical and colonial impulses. It is a testament to the wonderful work that talented and dedicated young scholars can do here, not just for their own benefit, but for the benefit of a wider scholarly community. Congratulations, Emily, for this remarkable achievement!
