English Major Kristen Thomas wins the The Cécile E. Mactaggart Travel Award for Narrative Writing, worth $12,000. The Mactaggart Award was established with a gift from local philanthropist Dr. Cécile E. Mactaggart to award excellent narrative writing and to acknowledge the importance of travel to life-long learning. Thomas's winning essay, "Pictured - Portrait of the Artist," narrates her study abroad experience in France.
