Make Safety a Habit!

This year, we're taking a look at how to build great habits for working and learning safely at the University of Alberta. Join us at any of the following fun events to explore how to incorporate safety habits into your daily life!

Monday, May 7Person using fire extinguisher simulator

CCIS (Near Second Cup) 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 

Did you know that training and fit-testing certification expires? Get into the habit of refresher training: Come chat with us about our eLearning curriculum, and learn a bit more about the fit-testing process. Plus: practice your fire extinguisher prowess -- give our simulator a whirl!

Tuesday, May 8 

ECHA (Near Starbucks): 10:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m. 

Spot the bad habits: check out our "display of danger" and try your hand at hazard identification. Also, wander by the "Scenes of Safety" photo display and vote for your favorite!

Wednesday, May 9

Safety Pop-Up

SUB: 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Find us beside the SUB stage and learn the basics of kit-building: from biological spill, to chemical release, to first aid. Make it a habit to restock your stuff!

Safety Pop-Up

We'll be in the Education cafeteria showing off the latest in personal protective equipment (PPE). Try some on and grab a selfie!

Lunch and Learn: Bill 30 -- Developing New Safety Habits at the U of A

Education South Room 265: 12:05 p.m. to 12:55 p.m. Register at

Bill 30 repealed and replaced Alberta's Occupational Health & Safety Act. How will this change affect YOU?

Learn how the new legislation aims to strengthen worker rights; expand supervisor responsibilities; and foster better health, safety, and social well being in the workplace.

Extinguish a "fire" with our laser-based simulator, chat with us about our new EHS eLearning courses, and learn how Bill 30 may affect you. Also, wander by the "Scenes of Safety" photo display and vote for your favorite!

William Hawrelak Park: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bring the whole family down to Get Ready in the Park, a showcase of Edmonton area emergency responders. Lots of hands on activities to occupy the kids!
