This year, we're celebrating safety ambassadors and safe behaviour at the University of Alberta. Join us at any of the following fun events -- come get your safe on!


Saturday, May 4

5 km Walk: Steps for Life

Rundle Park: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Steps for Life is a fundraising event in support of Threads of Life, a resource for families of workplace tragedy.

Join the EHS team, start your own, or simply donate!


Monday, May 6Person using fire extinguisher simulator

Katz Atrium 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 

Who is Environment, Health & Safety and what services do we offer? Come for a chat and learn about our fit-testing and medical surveillance programs. Plus: practice your fire extinguisher prowess -- give our simulator a whirl!


Tuesday, May 7 

Enterprise Square, 2nd Floor: 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m. 

Check out our "display of danger" and try your hand at hazard identification. Also, wander by the "Scenes of Safety" photo display and vote for your favorite!

Lunch and Learn: What's Up with the HAWApp?

Enterprise Square Room 2-550D: 12:05 p.m. to 12:55 p.m. Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation requires supervisors and workers to conduct workplace hazard assessments. Learn the history behind the Hazard Assessment Web Application, and how you can access it and use it effectively. All welcome!


Wednesday, May 8

Safety Pop-Up

CCIS Main Floor near PCL Lounge: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Learn the basics of kit-building -- from biological spill, to chemical release, to first aid. Get prepared!


Thursday, May 9 

Safety Pop-Up

Education North: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 

We'll be in the Education cafeteria showing off the latest in personal protective equipment (PPE). Try some on and grab a selfie!


Friday, May 10

Business Atrium: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Extinguish a "fire" with our laser-based simulator and chat with us about strategies for workplace injury and illness prevention, including ergonomic tips & tricks. Also, wander by the "Scenes of Safety" photo display and vote for your favorite!


Saturday, May 11

William Hawrelak Park: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bring the whole family down to Get Ready in the Park, a showcase of Edmonton area emergency responders. Lots of hands on activities to occupy the kids!
