Parade Entries and Details

Green and Gold Day Parade

When: Friday, September 14
Time: Noon - 12:30 p.m.
Where: North Campus (map)

Green and Gold Day offers a number of opportunities for the institution's faculty, staff, students, and alumni to demonstrate their campus pride... including the Green and Gold Day Parade. Faculties, departments, units, student groups, associations, and teams are all welcome to sign up for this festive event.

To help encourage a little friendly competition, each entry will be eligible to win the Green and Gold Cup. The winner(s) will be selected by a group of esteemed judges who will be looking for the creative green and gold display.

Parade Ideas

Here are a few ideas to consider when planning your parade entry:

  • Entries should be decorated to match the theme of green and gold
  • Carts, wagons, and bikes are allowed
  • As long as you double check with Risk Management, tame animals with experienced handler(s) are welcome
  • Musical instruments and music are allowed
  • Banners, flags, and balloon displays can be included

Parade Don'ts

Given the limitations of our pathways (and safety concerns) there are a few things that you can't include in your parade entry:

  • Fire. No open flames
  • Anything explosive
  • No fire arms
  • Cars or trucks
  • Recognition and advertising of corporate or community sponsors (i.e. non-U of A sponsors) on parade entries can be submitted for approval, however approval is not guaranteed
