Special Topics in Art


This course will explore the history, principles and techniques of figurative sculpture. Gain hands-on experience sculpting the figure in oil-based clay including working with live models will be studied. Tools and techniques encompassing types of clay, gesture sketching, armature, scale, surface texture, reproduction, moulding, and casting will be studied. During this course, you will become familiar observing and interpreting the human form through an understanding of concepts in human anatomy and physiology to translate proportion and movement into (figurative) sculpture. Recommended: Drawing I and Visual Art & Design I or equivalents.
