The University of Alberta is committed to creating work and learning communities that inspire and enable all people to reach their full potential. "We value diversity, inclusivity, and equity across and among our people, campuses and disciplines." (For the Public Good). We define equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) as the following:

Equity at its heart is about removing barriers, biases, and obstacles that impede equal access and opportunity to succeed at educational and employment endeavours within the academy.

Diversity is fundamentally about valuing human and institutional differences and recognizing diverse talents to advance institutional excellence.

Inclusion is the active engagement of diversity and equity.  Access goes beyond physical accessibility to include principles of universal design in all aspects of the University’s operations.

University of Alberta Commitment to Equity in Employment

The University of Alberta is committed to an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workforce. We welcome applications from all qualified persons. We encourage women; First Nations, Métis and Inuit persons; members of visible minority groups; persons with disabilities; persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity and expression; and all those who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas and the University to apply.
