Is Your Flu Immunization Making You Feel Unwell?

Side effects can be similar to symptoms of COVID-19. Know what to do if you experience symptoms following an immunization.

According to the Public Health Agency in Canada, over 13 million Candians will be rolling up their sleeves to get a flu vaccination this year. As with all vaccinations, side effects may occur. Side effects tend to be mild and can last 24-48 hours following an immunization. If you have been vaccinated, you may experience symptoms including fever, headache, cough, runny nose or sore throat. These side effects can present similarly to the symptoms of COVID-19. Alberta Health Services recommends that you stay home and away from others, even if you think your symptoms are from the vaccine.

If symptoms persist, consider contacting Health Link.

If you wish to get vaccinated, but are feeling unwell, wait until you are feeling better. At the clinic, you may be asked questions relating to your current state of health.
