Book Discussion (Evening)

Convener:  Karen Bain

Evening Book Club has been a consistently popular interest group and is one of the only opportunities for working women.  Several members have participated regularly for many years due to stimulating conversations and an engaging social climate.  Books are selected at a year-end potluck dinner in June, with a focus on making a variety of choices from both fiction and non-fiction reviews suggested by members.

During one meeting, the University of Alberta Writer-in-Residence is invited to discuss his or her own work.  The other meetings are facilitated by volunteer members who lead the discussion, sometimes providing author profiles, maps, and personal experiences that prompt and add richness to the conversations.  Dates of meetings, books assigned and locations are available from the Convener.

Meetings: Third Thursday of the month, September to June, 7:30pm to 9:30pm in members' homes
