Canada Savings Bonds

Canada Savings Bonds are an investment instrument offered by the Canadian government. University staff and faculty can purchase savings bonds through payroll deduction during the annual fall campaign. 

Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP)

Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) is a Canadian government retirement savings plan to which you or your spouse/ common-law partner contribute. Deductible RRSP contributions can be used to reduce your tax. Any income you earn in the RRSP is usually exempt from tax as long as the funds remain in the plan; you generally have to pay tax when you receive payments from the plan.

RRSP Home Buyer’s Plan

The Home Buyers' Plan (HBP) is a Canadian government program that allows you to withdraw up to $25,000 in a calendar year from your registered retirement savings plans (RRSPs) to buy or build a home for yourself or for a related person with a disability.

Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP) and Pension Estimator

The PSPP is a contributory defined benefit pension plan. The primary objective of the Plan is to provide retirement income to participating members. The PSPP also provides benefits in the event of death, disability or termination of employment. The Pension Estimator online tool estimates your pension only and does not take into account other sources of income.

Universities Academic Pension Plan (UAPP) and Retirement Planner

The UAPP is a contributory defined benefit pension plan. The primary objective of the Plan is to provide retirement income to participating members. The UAPP also provides benefits in the event of death, disability or termination of employment. The Retirement Planner is a member’s key to personalized information about the UAPP and where you will be able to prepare retirement estimates that use your actual data.

Critical Illness Insurance

Critical Illness Insurance is an employer paid benefit which provides a $10,000 lump sum payment to yourself should you be diagnosed with one of the covered diseases. There are also optional employee paid benefits available.
