The March 17, 2020 New Faculty and Staff Orientation event has been cancelled. The next event is scheduled for August 18, 2020. Registration will open in summer 2020.

This one-day Faculty and Staff Orientation Session is open to all new faculty and staff members. At the session, you will have the opportunity to learn about the University of Alberta and network with other people who are part of the campus community. This event is a general orientation session that addresses the organization as a whole, and you will receive an overview of the University's mission and structure along with information on essential contacts, services and programs available to you as an employee. Note that orientation to your specific role and work area (i.e. job-specific orientation) is not covered and is the responsibility of your supervisor, manager or leader.

The Faculty and Staff Orientation Session is an experience that includes speakers, activities, food, networking and FUN! It is a full day event in the Lister Conference Centre with lunch and refreshments provided.

What are people saying about the Faculty and Staff Orientation Event?

"I was very impressed with the presenters' focus on the vision of the University and their commitment to inclusion and excellence. I was also impressed by the number of associations who participated in the Information Marketplace and who had so much helpful and relevant information for us."

"Even as a former student of the U of A, I found the walking tour really useful because it showed me where new buildings were. It was also a great opportunity to interact with other new staff members (and make friends!)."

"To hear the corporate vision and culture described particularly by leaders confirmed for me that this institution is a good fit for me. I very much appreciate that those in high-level leadership positions attend the orientation, speaks volumes and I'm now more excited than ever to be working here."
