Dr. Andrew Cave Named one of Canada's Top Family Physicians

Family Physician and faculty member recognized as one of Canada's Top Family Physicians

Danica Erickson - 23 November 2020

Congratulations to Dr. Andrew Cave, recipient of the 2020 Reg L. Perkins Award, and one of Canada’s family physicians of the year by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). Dr. Cave joined the department in 1992, has spent time as chair of the department’s research committee and was the department’s director of research from 2000 to 2006. In addition to research interests in multi-disciplinary primary care teams and narrative inquiry, Cave has had extensive involvement in initiatives to improve the management of asthma and other respiratory conditions, notably the Alberta Primary Care Pathway for Childhood Asthma. He is also mentoring the next generation of physicians and researchers as faculty advisor, supervisor to summer research students, an advocate for the recognition and management of rare diseases in primary care and, of course, has been a long-time family physician to many Edmonton families.

A heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Andrew Cave on this recognition.

Dr. Cave also received the CFPC Lifetime Achievement in Family Medicine Research Award in 2006
