Customs and Tax - Foreign Acquisitions

Goods and services obtained from foreign suppliers are subject to customs and taxation legislation when brought into Canada. This applies to all goods and services acquired then shipped to, carried to or used in Canada.

To ensure the most expedient handling of goods to and from Canada while remaining compliant with the applicable Canadian legislation, the Customs Services unit within Supply Management Services (SMS) provides knowledge and guidance to units regarding cross-border transactions including importing and exporting goods, assistance in obtaining import and export permits and information regarding travelling with University equipment.
