2SLGBTQ+ Folks Deserve Care and Protection

A public statement in light of the tragic shooting at Club Q. To all 2SLGBTQ+ folks: please know that you are loved and cared for.

22 November 2022

Our hearts go out to the folks who experienced the horrific and violent attack at Club Q in Colorado. The club was known as a safe space for many queer and trans folks within the community. It is gut-wrenching to think about the large magnitude of pain and grief that comes with both losing a safe space and also loved ones. This painful event is felt deeply by many 2SLGBTQ+ folks, since many of us have had to search for belonging, whether that’s in finding spaces that celebrate and affirm who we are or by connecting with folks who eventually become our chosen families.

The pain of events like the shooting at Club Q is far-reaching and can evoke difficult and overwhelming feelings for many of us that are part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community or for those of us with loved ones that are part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Please take care of yourself, your well-being, and each other.

To all 2SLGBTQ+ folks, please know that you are loved and cared for. You always deserve to feel safe.
