Declan Norris

What is your main area of practice?

I am an internationally accredited sports physiotherapist so have a wide range of experience
treating sports-related injuries in both elite and recreational athletes. This includes helping
athletes in the management of acute or chronic related issues recover from injury and return to
competition fit to perform. My main areas of clinical interest are tendon related pain, athletic groin pain and hamstring

Where did you study?

I initially obtained a degree in Biochemistry from Trinity College in Dublin in 2007 before
obtaining my BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in
2010, graduating with clinical distinction. I then went back to complete a postgraduate Masters
in Sports Physiotherapy from Curtin University in Western Australia in 2015, graduating with
distinction. In addition I also have certification from the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association,
am an accredited IFSPT (International Federation of Sports Physical Therapists) and have
physiotherapy registration in Ireland, Australia and Canada having worked in all three countries.

Are you affiliated with any teams?

I am currently not affiliated with any teams here in Canada but have worked across many elite
level teams initially beginning in rugby working in Dublin with Bective Rangers RFC (2010 -
2013). I have also worked extensively in professional cricket as the team physiotherapist for the
national teams of Afghanistan (2011), Ireland (2011-2013) and Australia (2015), touring
internationally across: Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. I was also the team physiotherapist for
the Western Fury and Perth Scorchers for three seasons working for the Western Australian
Cricket Association in Australian domestic cricket (2013-2016).

What is your favourite way to stay active?

Having played GAA In Ireland, playing both Hurling and Gaelic Football and also playing soccer at varsity level for both Trinity College Dublin and The Royal College of Surgeons I am motivated to stay active in anyway I can. Currently I enjoy skiing, weightlifting and play recreational soccer.
