Dr. Kristin Anstey

What is your role at the GSSMC?

I am a primary care sport and exercise medicine physician.

Do you hold any positions outside the clinic?

I work with the PCN North Orthopaedic Triage and Treatment Program and I sometimes cover General Family Medicine Clinics. I am also a clinical lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta.

What is your clinic specialty?

Sport and exercise medicine in any and all active individuals.

What did you study and where?

My MD, Family Medicine Residency, and Sport and Exercise Medicine Fellowship were all done here at the University of Alberta.

Do you have any specific research interests or publications?

My academic interests include undergraduate and resident teaching.

Do you work specific days/hours?

Typically, Tuesdays and Fridays.

What is your favourite way to stay active?

I used to be a competitive swimmer with the Silver Tide Swim Club. I swam at the national level in 100 m and 200 m butterfly. The main activities I participate in now are hiking, cycling and yoga. I hiked the West Coast Trail this summer and I love to travel.
