Young athletes who are suffering from acute injuries will benefit from the Glen Sather Clinic's Acute Youth Injury Clinic.

This clinic is best suited for those who do not require immediate emergency department care, but want timely assessments and return-to-play recovery plans.

When does the clinic run?
The clinic currently runs on Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Who can access the clinic?
Youth atheletes who are suffering from an acute injury that was sustained within the last 72 hours, or at least within the last week, can self-refer to the clinic. Patients are seen on a first come, first serve basis.

How does the clinic work?
This clinic is similar to the varsity sport model, where the team physician assigned to that team sees acutely injured athletes as soon as possible. We wanted to offer a similar service to youth athletes to make sure we are doing the best we can for the sports community here in Edmonton and the surrounding area.

Right now, there is a group of sport and exercise medicine physicians piloting the clinic, but we hope to work in a physiotherapy model as well.

How can I make an appointment? Will I need a referral?
The clinic runs on a self-referral basis. Please call the clinic at 780-407-5160 to make an appointment.

What is the cost?
There is currently no cost for an assessment at the clinic with a valid Alberta Health Care card.

Where is the clinic located?
The clinic runs out of the Glen Sather Sports Medicine Clinic, 2C/2D Kaye Edmonton Clinic.
