Welcome Home, I-House 2018!
154 residents, 42 countries and a vision for learning that will develop global citizens, leaders, and lifelong friends. Welcome Week at International House determines the success of the year to come and even the long-term paths of students who decide to contribute meaningfully in this intentionally diverse community.
Though smaller than most, I-House is extremely active and the most consistently satisfied residence on campus - and it is no accident. The weeks of welcome are designed to bring a sense of belonging, comfort, and well-being so that I-House feels like a “home” even before classes begin. This is critical because from that point on, every resident at I-House is actively supported and encouraged to get involved and bring their best to the community - realising their own and the whole community’s creative potential.
During Welcome, social events, community projects and workshops are sequenced so that every resident has an opportunity to slowly bond with others and begin to understand that they are valued for precisely the unique gifts they bring - something they can offer to make the group stronger and more resilient.
Please enjoy some moments from our “family” photo album and stay tuned for more stories from residents and tidbits of learning that we discover this year at I-House!
