Become a Student Member on a GFC Committee

Are you interested in becoming an Undergraduate or Graduate student elected to a Committee of General Faculties Council?


  • Each spring, and when vacancies arise in year, the GFC Nominating Committee (NC) works to replenish vacant student seats across all of GFC committees.
  • One-year Terms of Office for Student Members of GFC Standing Committees run from May 1 through April 30.
  • Current Membership Listings and Terms of Reference are available online for each GFC Standing Committee
  • University Governance publishes Annual Governance Meeting Schedules of the Board of Governors/Board Committees, General Faculties Council/GFC Committees and Gov 101.

You may wish to view a GFC committee meeting in action! Observing an Open Session Meeting of GFC and/or its standing committees is a great way to experience academic governance first-hand. Please contact a GFC Committee Coordinator for meeting arrangements, or with any general questions.
