Review Committee for Vice-Provost and Dean of Students

Call for Academic Staff Nominations 

Steven Dew, Provost and Vice-President (Academic), has begun the process of striking a Review Committee for Vice-Provost and Dean of Students in accordance with the "Faculty Deans Review Procedure" (in UAPPOL). In keeping with Section 20 (j) of the Appendix A: Dean Selection/Review Committees for Individual Faculties, General Faculties Council (GFC) is asked to assist in the election of THREE (3) academic staff members to this committee composition.


Selection Criteria - Academic Staff (A1.0 or A2.0)

To be eligible, the THREE (3) Academic Staff Members are:

  • from academic staff categories (A1.0 or A2.0) as defined in the Appendix A of the Recruitment Policy: Definition and Categories of Academic Staff, Postdoctoral Fellows, Academic Colleagues and Excluded Academic Staff (in UAPPOL);
  • NOT affiliated with a unit that reports to the Dean of Students;
  • available at the times listed on the 2020 Review Committee Meeting Schedule as prepared by the Office of the Provost/VP Academic. Please Note: Initial (start-up) meeting will be held on October 6 (1:30-3:00 pm).

Committee Membership Responsibilities

To successfully achieve its mandate, the Review Committee will ensure that its members are familiarized with their obligations under applicable University policies, in particular, the Discrimination, Harassment and Duty to Accommodate Policy, the Conflict Policy – Conflict of Interest and Commitment and Institutional Conflict Policy, the University’s Employment Equity Statement and the EDI Strategic Plan.


Nomination and Election Process

Applications will be accepted until Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 12:00 PM (Noon)

ACTION REQUIRED
The following three (3) steps will complete a Committee Application to serve on the Review Committee:

  1. Nominee must agree to stand for election. (An election, if required, will be held by GFC.)
  2. The (online) Nominee application form is completed by either the Nominee (by self-nomination) or on behalf of the Nominee (by Nominator)
  3. A submitted application contains nominee-specific details including a Statement of Interest (150 words) and a brief Bio/Professional Sketch (150 words) for election ballot purposes.
