Call for Academic Staff Nominations

Applications will be accepted until Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 12:00 PM (Noon) .

Following the announcement of Gitta Kulczycki’s resignation, President Flanagan has asked that an Advisory Search Committee for the Vice-President (Finance and Administration) be struck. General Faculties Council (GFC) is asked to assist in the election of TWO (2) Academic Staff members by the faculty and the appointed academic staff representatives on GFC to sit on this committee.


Membership Selection Criteria - Academic Staff Member

Appendix A - Section 3 (d) of the  Vice-Presidential Search Procedure stipulates that the approved committee composition includes:
  • TWO (2) Academic Staff members from University Staff Categories (A1.0/D1.2) in accordance with  Appendix A -  Definition and Categories of Academic Staff  of the  Recruitment Policy (in UAPPOL) .   
  • Staff who are on leave are NOT eligible to serve as academic staff representatives on Advisory Search/Review Committees. As per Appendix A - Section (8), the term ‘leave’ includes: administrative leave, sabbatical, political, medical, parental, childbirth, disability, assisted, secondment.
  • Staff who hold the administrative positions of Vice-Dean, Associate or Assistant Dean or Department Chair at the time of the initial nomination are not eligible to serve. Other Staff who hold administrative positions may not be eligible to serve. Please refer to Conflict of Interest and Commitment and Institutional Conflict Policy.

Current Committee Meeting Schedule

  • Start-Up Meeting : Thursday, July 09, 2020  (3 – 4:30 pm) - Subject to change
  • Committee Meeting: Monday, July 20, 2020  (2 – 3:30 pm)
  • Committee Meeting: Friday, August 7, 2020 (9:30 - 11 am)
  • Interviews: Wednesday, August 12 and Thursday, August 13, 2020, exact times to be determined closer to the dates.   Note:  There may be additional meeting held as required.  

Nomination and Election Process

The following steps are required by the Nominee and Nominators in order to complete an application before Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 12:00 PM.

ACTION REQUIRED BY THE "NOMINEE":  (3 steps to follow)
  1. MUST ACCEPT nomination and agree to stand for election. If "more than two" nominees come forward an election will be held by GFC.
  2. MUST COMPLETE and SUBMIT a Nominee Application Form   by way of an  online registration. *
  3. MUST BE SUPPORTED by five (5) academic staff members from Staff Categories A1.0/D1.2  (continuing full-time and/or part-time academic staff)  not including the nominee, whom agree to serve as a "Nominator".
ACTION REQUIRED BY THE "NOMINATOR": (1 step to follow)

4.  Each of the five (5) Nominators MUST COMPLETE and SUBMIT an online " Nominator Support and Consent Form " prior to the application deadline. 

* Note:  Nominee's application form can be completed/submitted by the Nominee or a fellow colleague/nominator (on behalf of Nominee).The application form includes an expression of interest (approximately 150 words) and a brief professional/bio sketch (approximately 150 words)

NOMINEE MAY APPLY NOW! The completed application consists of the Nominee Application Form (submitted online) AND a Nominator Support and Consent Form (submitted online by each of the five (5) supporting Nominators)  by Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 12:00 PM (Noon)
