Dean Selection Committee - Dean, Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation
Vacancy: ONE (1) ACADEMIC STAFF (A1.0) from outside the faculty concerned
Dr. Steven Dew, Provost and Vice-President (Academic), is establishing a Selection Committee for the Dean of the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation. If you are an eligible academic staff member (outside of the faculty concerned) and interested to serve on this Dean Selection Committee, you are invited to complete and submit an on-line nomination form today! Individuals can self-nominate or be nominated.
In advance, please carefully review the 2019 Selection Committee Meeting Schedule prepared by the Provost's Office to ensure availability.
Nominee Selection Criteria:
In accordance with the "Faculty Deans Selection Procedure" in (UAPPOL), General Faculties Council (GFC) is called upon to elect ONE (1) representative from Academic Staff Category (A1.0) from outside the faculty concerned, that is:
- only University of Alberta academic staff members employed in positions held outside of the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation are eligible, as indicated within Section 9 (j.) of the "Faculty Deans Selection Procedure - Appendix A: Dean Selection Committee for Individual Faculties";
- Nominee should be available at the times listed on the 2019-20 Dean Selection Committee Meeting Schedule.
- it is essential for a Dean Selection Committee to have full attendance at its key meetings. Nominee MUST be available for meetings held between October 24, 2019 to February 18, 2020. Note: An initial start-up meeting is set for October 2, 2019 (Noon to 2:00 pm/Loc: tba), a Town Hall follows on October 4, 2019 (Noon to 1:00 pm/Loc: tba).
GFC Nomination and Election Process
Deadline to Apply: Friday, September 27, 2019 at 4:30 PM
The following three (3) steps are required to complete a "Dean Selection Committee - Staff Application Form":
- Nominee must agree to stand for election. (An election, held as needed, will begin week of September 30, 2019.)
- An online application form can be completed by either a Nominator (on behalf of Nominee) or Nominee (by self-nomination)
- The application requires nominee-specific details including an expression of interest (150 words) and a brief biographical/professional sketch (150 words) for election ballot purposes.
