Selection Committee for Dean (Faculty of Law)

The Provost and Vice-President (Academic) of the University of Alberta has asked that a Selection Committee for Dean (Faculty of Law) be established in accordance with the "Faculty Deans Selection Procedure" in UAPPOL.

General Faculties Council (GFC) is called upon to elect ONE academic staff representative from Staff Category (A1.0), from outside the Faculty concerned, as indicated within Section 9 (h.) of the "Faculty Deans Selection Procedure - Appendix A: Dean Selection Committee for Individual Faculties"

Nomination Deadline: Friday, August 24, 2018 at 12:00 PM (Noon)
Nominee Criteria: Member of Academic Staff Category (A1.0), from outside the Faculty concerned.
Nominee Availability: Nominee should be available for ALL committee meeting dates/times provided by the Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic).

Staff Nomination Process:

  • Nominee is asked to tentatively hold ALL scheduled dates in their calendar until a candidate is officially declared by GFC (by election or acclamation, based on nominee pool).
  • A nominee must agree to stand for election in the event multiple nominations are received.
  • Staff nomination form may be completed and submitted by either the nominee or nominator.
  • The nomination form requires nomination-specific details, a biographical sketch (of approx. 150 words), and a brief statement (of approx. 150 words) outlining nominee's interest to actively serve on this committee in the event an election by GFC is required.
  • The nomination form must be received by Ann Hodgson (GFC Nominations and Elections) prior to the deadline.
