GSA Council-Elected Officers

Opportunity to Serve: Two (2) Graduate Students

 

 

 

Nominations are now open for each of these two positions of Speaker and Deputy Returning Officer (DRO).

Nominations must be submitted in writing (using the attached form) to gsa.nomcomm@ualberta.ca by Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 12:00 PM (Noon).

All nominations received will be circulated as submitted to GSA Council.

 

 

Overview of Positions from GSA Bylaw and Policy*:


Speaker:

The Speaker presides over all meetings of GSA Council, and is a non-voting member of the GSA Board (GSAB).


DRO:

Assists CRO as needed, is a non-voting member of GSA ERC, and “must be physically present in Edmonton or surrounding areas for the duration of any GSA Election, By-Election, and/or Referendum.”

Meetings
:

 

Speaker:

  • GSA Council meetings take place monthly on Mondays at 6:00 PM.
  • A pre-Council meeting takes place on the same day at 4:00 PM.
  • GSAB currently meets every Wednesday from 10 AM to 12 PM (attendance is not mandatory).

 

DRO:
  • GSA Council meetings take place monthly on Mondays at 6:00 PM.
  • May be invited to a pre-Council meeting (on the same day at 4:00 PM).
  • GSA ERC meetings will take place regularly between October and March to assist with the 2019 GSA General Election, and as needed throughout the rest of the year.

 

Election Process:

Elections for these two (2) positions will occur at the July GSA Council meeting on Monday, July 16, 2018, and the nominees will be invited to deliver brief remarks at this meeting. If nominees are unable to attend and would like to address GSA Council, alternate arrangements can be made. The results of the GSA Council paper ballot vote will be communicated to all GSA Council Members.
