GSA Deputy Speaker

Opportunity to Serve: One (1) Graduate Students

Nominations are now open for each of the one position of Deputy Speaker.

Overview of Positions from GSA Bylaw and Policy*:

Deputy Speaker:

  • Assists the Speaker as needed: the Speaker presides over all meetings of GSA Council, and is a non-voting member of the GSA Board (GSAB).

Meetings:

Deputy Speaker:

  • GSA Council meetings take place monthly on Mondays at 6:00 PM.
  • A pre-Council meeting takes place on the same day at 4:00 PM (attendance is only mandatory when Deputy Speaker is presiding over that month's GSA Council meeting).
  • GSAB currently meets every Wednesday from 10 AM to 12 PM (attendance for the Speaker is not mandatory, Deputy Speaker may be invited in cases where the Speaker is required to attend).

Election Process:
Elections for these two (2) positions will take place at the GSA Council meeting on Monday, 15 July 2019, and the nominees will be invited to deliver brief remarks at this meeting. If nominees are unable to attend and would like to address GSA Council, alternate arrangements can be made. The results of the GSA Council paper ballot vote will be communicated to all GSA Council Members.
