Vacancy:

A minimum of seven (7) and up to nine (9) graduate students to serve on the GSA Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee (GSA EDIC)

How To Apply:

Nominations are to be submitted by filling out the form attached and emailing it to gsa.nomcomm@ualberta.ca in advance of the deadline of Wednesday, 13 January 2021 at 12:00 PM (Noon). Nominations received will be circulated as submitted via email to GSA Council.

There will be an electronic vote at the 18 January 2021 GSA Council meeting.


Purpose and Mandate:

The GSA EDIC works to ensure that the GSA reflects the principles of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) for all its members in the interests of enhancing the graduate student experience and ensuring the existence of a welcoming environment and cohesive community for graduate students on campus.

Eligibility:

“Elected members will be individuals who are or identify as Indigenous, as Black, as members of a racialized group, as disabled or diversely abled, as female, or as LGBTTQQPIANU+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Two-Spirit, Queer, Questioning, Pansexual, Intersex, Asexual, NonBinary, Unlabelled, and more)” (Section F: GSA Standing Committees, GSA Policy, GSA Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, section F.POL.5.1).

 





Meetings:

GSA EDIC will meet at least three (3) times a year.

Composition:

The GSA EDIC is composed of the GSA President (Chair), the Vice-President Student Services (Vice-Chair), and A minimum of seven (7) and up to nine (9) GSA members elected by GSA Council as voting members. The GSA Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee (GSA EDIC) Chair, in consultation with the GSA EDIC Vice-Chair and the Chair of the GSA Nominating Committee, can decide to increase the number of GSA members on the GSA EDIC” (Section F: GSA Standing Committees, GSA Policy, GSA Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, section F.POL.5.1).
