Get Involved

There are a variety of ways to get involved with the GSA and with student governance at the University of Alberta.

GSA Directly-Elected Officer Positions

You may consider serving as an elected graduate student leader, such as the GSA President or any of the four GSA Vice-Presidents.

The President and Vice-Presidents represent over 7,500 of their fellow graduate students and actively engage with the University about important matters affecting grad students (like tuition and funding) through their service on major University governing bodies and meetings with senior administration. They also lead the GSA as an organization and advocate on behalf of graduate students. For more information about the GSA Directly-Elected Officer positions, click below.

The President and Vice-Presidents are elected every winter term during the GSA General Election. To prepare graduate students interested to run for these positions and to improve confident at election time, the GSA runs a program called the Early Call that provides information about governance, advocacy, the GSA's budget and services, and other matters. Information about Early Call is available in late September through the GSA newsletter.

Graduate Student Committee and Council Seats
