UAlberta Student Services

The University offers a number of services to all students. Advocacy from graduate student leaders throughout the years has also yielded a range of graduate-specific services to address the unique needs of this population. The vast majority of these services are free to access.
Career Centre

The GSA subsidizes the Career Centre, which help students and alumni seeking assistance with career management. They offer a variety of resources, ranging from individual counseling to employer information sessions and the International Student Work Study Program... and so much more!

Graduate Student Ombudsperson

The GSA advocated to the University for a full-time Graduate Student Ombudsperson to assist students with concerns related to their academic programs. 

The Graduate Student Ombudsperson at the Office of the Student Ombuds can help identify solutions to problems many graduate students may face outside of the realm of the Graduate Student Assistantship Collective Agreement.

The Graduate Student Ombudsperson can be reached at gradomb@ualberta.ca. The Student OmbudService office is located in 2-702 SUB in the Dean of Students Office.

Writing Resources

Writing Resources, part of the Academic Success Centre, provides a range of academic assistance to students, including specialized free and premium programming for graduate students. The GSA subsidizes the Reboot Your Writing weekly one-on-one writing sessions and a thesis-writing retreat through the ASC.

Make sure to familiarize yourself with their Graduate Workshops and Graduate Writing Groups.
