Angelia Wagner, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellows Association, University of Alberta
Dr. Angelia Wagner is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in Political Science. Her research examines political candidacy in Canada, with a specific focus on understanding why different groups of women and men chose not to run for elected office at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels. She is also the project manager for an international research project examining the career pathways of women premiers in Canada and Australia. She is the VP Communications of the Postdoctoral Fellows Association (PDFA) at the University of Alberta.
Prior to her postdoctoral appointment at the University of Alberta, Wagner received a BJ from the Carleton School of Journalism and worked for many years as a newspaper journalist. She later earned an MA and PhD in political science from the University of Alberta before holding a two-year SSHRC postdoctoral fellowship at McGill University. While a graduate student at the University of Alberta, Wagner was an executive member of the Political Science Graduate Student Association and a GSA representative on university committees. She was also involved with postgraduate organizations and university committees during her time at McGill University. Wagner intends to leverage her professional and academic experience to help the Professional Development Advisory Board develop opportunities for University of Alberta students.
