Graduate Students' Association, University of Alberta
While born in South Africa, Dylan spent his elementary days in Fort McMurray, completed high school in South Africa, and returned to Canada to pursue post-secondary education. Having earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta, he is now working towards his MSc in the same field, focusing on fundamental topics of an area of Artificial Intelligence called Reinforcement Learning. Though he devotes considerable time as a member of the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute, his free time away from academics is dedicated to honing his photography skills, reading popular science and history books, and watching documentaries.
Dylan is currently serving as the Graduate Students' Association (GSA) Vice-President Academic and is no stranger to governance at the University of Alberta. He has previously served on the GSA Board, the GSA Nominating Committee, and the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR) Council, and the GSA Council as the Computing Science Departmental Councillor.
