Masoud is a fourth year PhD Candidate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta. Aside from engineering, he has a keen interest in politics and management. During his master's program, he was the head of a science-based group of mechanical engineers in Entrepreneurship Centre of Shariff University of Technology. During the course of his master's and doctoral studies, he has been involved in teaching and mentoring several undergraduate and graduate students. At the University of Alberta, he was involved in Mechanical Engineering Graduate Students' Association (MEGSA); first as the Vice-President Academic and then as the Chief Returning Officer. He was also the representative of the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the GSA Council and served GSA as a Councillor for a year.
Masoud was awarded the Graduate School Scholarship by the Council of University Exceptional Talents from K.N. Toosi University of Technology in 2010; was selected as a member of Iran's National Elites Foundation due to superior academic achievements and research records in 2013; was awarded the University of Alberta Doctoral Recruitment Scholarship in September 2014 and the Lehigh Cement Graduate Scholarship in Environmental Studies at the University of Alberta in September 2015. He has authored twelve peer-reviewed papers in his field of expertise. He has been a reviewer for five journals and three international conferences. He has been involved in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students during his MSc, and currently in his PhD.
