Born and raised in Alberta, Heather holds a Bachelor of Biblical Studies from Canadian Bible College, a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in human resource management from the University of Alberta and a Master’s Degree in Human and Organizational Development, from Fielding Graduate University.
Heather began her career with the Alberta Government in 1997 with the Personnel Administration Office as a Human Resource Intern. She has worked in various areas of human resource management including Executive Search, Staffing, and various areas within Workforce Development. Heather has also worked with the department of Justice and also spent a number of years with the Policy Coordination Office of Executive Council, in the area of strategic business planning and policy excellence.
Heather spent the last number of years focused on large scale organizational cultural change. Her focus was on creating and sustaining organizational change in order for the Alberta Public Service to reach its full potential through developing strong leaders at all levels. As Assistant Deputy Minister, Leadership and Talent Development, she oversaw talent management, leadership development and learning strategies for the Alberta Public Service. Currently Heather is on secondment to the University of Alberta spending her time teaching and finishing her Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Systems.
She is a three time recipient of the Premier’s Award of Excellence and has professional credentials as a Certified Human Resource Professional.
